Serving Abernathy, TX

Abernathy and the southern Lubbock County area are drawing data center and energy infrastructure investment as operators look to the South Plains for affordable land and access to the region's growing renewable power capacity, with the TeraWulf Abernathy project representing a significant commitment to a small agricultural community that sits well outside established industrial water networks. The South Plains region overlies the Ogallala Aquifer, which is experiencing accelerating depletion from decades of agricultural irrigation, making groundwater a constrained and increasingly expensive resource for any new large-scale industrial user in the area. Construction-phase water demand for a project of this scale cannot be met by local systems in a town the size of Abernathy, and securing a dedicated bulk water delivery partner before mobilization is a foundational requirement for keeping the build on schedule.

OUR SOLUTIONS

Complete Water Supply for Abernathy Data Center Projects

From the first day of construction through go-live, Water Runner covers every water requirement your Abernathy data center project needs on one contract.

PHASE 01

Construction Crew Water Supply

Remote data center builds require daily access to clean, potable water for large crews throughout the entire construction phase, often rivaling the scale of the facility itself.

  • Purified drinking water for crews of 200-500+

  • Daily delivery to remote, off-grid sites

  • Scalable capacity as project phases ramp up

PHASE 02

Launching Summer 2026

Cooling System Water Supply

Our Rapid Fill RO System is purpose-built for data center cooling fills and is part of Water Runner's broader water treatment systems and industrial RO capabilities.. It delivers 300-400 GPM of purified water on-site while recovering reject water that single-pass systems waste. Cooling systems account for a significant portion of a data center’s total water consumption. According to data center cooling efficiency standards tracked by the Uptime Institute, high-recovery RO design directly impacts Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) scores — a metric increasingly required by hyperscale clients.

  • 300 GPM primary RO + 100 GPM secondary on reject

  • Cooling tower, closed-loop, and immersion system fills

  • Municipal tie-in or trucked potable buffer feed

  • Daily production and water quality reporting included

PHASE 03

Fire Suppression & Emergency Readiness

A data center is only as safe as its emergency water supply. We provide on-demand emergency water supply for fire suppression systems and ensure your facility meets readiness standards from day one.

  • Fire suppression system commissioning fills

  • Emergency standby water reserves

  • Rapid response deployment capability

  • Compliance-ready documentation support

Concrete Production and Dust Compaction Water

Two water needs decide whether earthwork and foundations stay on schedule, and both show up on sites that sit past the end of the nearest water main. We deliver them from the same TCEQ-licensed source as everything else on your project, on one purchase order and one chain of custody.

Concrete Production

Batch and cure water for foundations, equipment pads, and slabs. When a site cannot draw the volume a pour requires, that water has to be hauled in and staged against the pour calendar rather than ordered the morning of. Tell us your schedule and we build delivery around it, with load tickets on every drop for your QA/QC binder.

Dust Compaction

Dust suppression on haul roads and active zones, plus the compaction moisture that brings subgrade to optimum water content before rolling. Graded pads that dry out and pads that take on rain both stall equipment, so we run scheduled routes through the dry stretches and on-call loads when a surface has to be reworked.

Both are available on scheduled routes and on call.

The Three Problems the Rapid Fill RO System Eliminates

SCHEDULE RISK

Our Rapid Fill RO System was built specifically for data center water demands, not retrofitted from other applications. Purpose-built industrial technology designed for the volumes and purity specs your Abernathy project requires.

REJECT WATER HEADACHES

Single-pass RO creates a large concentrate stream that needs disposal approval. Our RO-2 stage recovers that reject, cutting final discharge volume and the approval friction that comes with it.

DOCUMENTATION GAPS

Every fill includes daily production totals, conductivity trends, and a commissioning closeout packet. Your EPC and commissioning authority get what they need to sign off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Abernathy Data Center Water FAQs

Does Water Runner deliver water to data center projects in Abernathy?

Yes. Water Runner delivers bulk water to data center projects across the Abernathy, TX area, covering dust control and compaction moisture during sitework, batch water for concrete production, potable water for construction crews, RO-purified water for cooling system fills, and on-demand supply for fire suppression. We deploy from our Midland, TX base and work with general contractors, MEP firms, and project managers to keep water off your critical path.

What types of water does Water Runner deliver for data center projects?

We cover every phase on one contract: potable water for crews of 200 to 500 plus, construction water for dust control, compaction moisture, and concrete production, RO-purified water for cooling tower, closed-loop, and immersion system fills, and on-demand water for fire suppression commissioning and standby reserves. Every grade comes from one TCEQ-licensed source, through a single point of contact.

When should we engage a water vendor for our data center build?

Engage Water Runner before mobilization, ideally 60 to 180 days ahead of ground-break. Remote build sites often sit beyond municipal water reach, so procurement teams use that lead time to onboard us as an approved vendor, lock in delivery windows for sitework and concrete pours, and reserve capacity for the cooling fill and fire suppression phases before they land on the critical path.

What documentation do you provide for commissioning and compliance?

Every delivery includes a load ticket with source, volume, date, and water grade. Cooling fills add daily production totals, conductivity trends, and a commissioning closeout packet, so your EPC and commissioning authority have what they need to sign off. Fire suppression deliveries include compliance-ready documentation for your readiness records.

What is the Rapid Fill RO System and when is it available?

The Rapid Fill RO System is a dual-stage, high-recovery reverse osmosis plant built specifically for data center cooling fills. It produces up to 400 GPM on-site, combining a 300 GPM primary stage with a 100 GPM secondary stage that recovers water from the reject stream, which cuts discharge volume and the disposal approval friction that comes with single-pass RO. The system launches in Summer 2026, with pre-launch registration open now for priority scheduling.
