The Trans-Pecos Pipeline, a 143-mile, 42-inch, 1.3-billion-cubic-foot-per-day natural gas transmission line, passes within approximately one mile of Alpine through 33 miles of Brewster County, making Alpine the primary services hub for pipeline O&M, compression maintenance, and right-of-way management across one of the longest midstream corridors in the region. That activity intensifies as Pacifico Energy's GW Ranch, a 7.65-gigawatt gas-fired power campus in adjacent Pecos County, advances construction beginning in early 2026 with first power delivery targeted for early 2027, routing its contractor supply chain directly through Alpine on US 90 as the most direct Trans-Pecos artery connecting the Permian Basin to the Big Bend region. Alpine is the only incorporated city in Brewster County, the largest county by area in Texas at more than 6,000 square miles, making it the sole staging point for crew services, equipment logistics, and water supply across terrain where municipal infrastructure does not reach most active work sites and sourcing on short notice is effectively impossible once mobilization begins.
